NASA Found 7 Earth-like Planets and 3 Potentially Habitable

NASA announced that in Aquarius, which is 39 light-years away from earth, have found that those 7 earth-like planets which orbiting around “Trappist 1”, might have liquid water, and 3 have potentially capable of hosting life. According to the report, this is the first time that scientists have found the most earth-like planets outside the solar system.

The exciting discovery has been considered as one of the first realistic opportunities to begin a search for alien life outside our system, and it’s also the first time that so many planets were discovered circling the same star.

Washington Thomas Zurbuchen, head of NASA Science Mission Directorate, spoke in a press release like that:”This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life. Answering the question 'are we alone' is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.”

The date shows that "Trappist 1" is about 39 light-years from earth, that means it’s close to earth as the standard of economy. But if the calculation is based on the speed of the existing commercial passenger aircraft, it will take about 44 million years from earth to the "Trappist 1" galaxy.

NASA says, "Trappist 1" is very young compared with sun, because is only about 500 million years of history. However, due to its slow speed of burning hydrogen of sun, its life expectancy can up to 10 trillion years, which means that even if the whole solar system goes to death of aging in billions of years later, "Trappist - 1" can still exist.

Since 1990s, astronomers have only found a total of about 3600 planets outside our solar system, but only 48 are classified as possible habitable. Moreover, only 18 of them are about the same size with earth. So we can see that this discovery is very important.
